Got my photographix in this week with a family portrait shoot out in Prosper, which is a really beautiful place actually. Very bucolic and peaceful, the kind of place I'd love to set up shop in doing photography. I honestly have an obsession, I can sit down at my computer to edit images for 12 straight hours without even noticing it and have a blast the entire time. I want to do this full time so badly it's starting to be on my mind the entire day. Steve Jobs said in his Stanford commencement speech that the only way to do great work is to love what you do, and I passionately love this; I've just got to find a way to do it sustainably and have health insurance... I can see myself improving, not only in my confidence but in my technical ability as well. I love the feel of being a photographer, the reactions of clients when they give feedback on their images, the creative freedom, the getting to call the shots and make decisions, I honestly feel like I've found my true life's calling. It's that THING that I could do all day every day and never get tired of. Guess I'm a bit late having already gotten two degrees in literature and linguistics, but I guess it's never too late, and I'm only thirty... Ok, well enough journaling, let's get on to the images of the Velders family. Again, had an awesome time with my friend Rhonda, whom I had the pleasure of working with at school a few years ago. I love how we got the real smiles whenever the dogs came out, little Teddy and Mollly the weeny dogs, especially Teddy the future therapy dog. We got really lucky with some great light and some nice dramatic clouds.

Happy Anniversary
To my partner in Kiranphotography, my perpetual support. Thank you so much for always being there for me, inspiring me, and loving me. After this year, I can honestly say that you are even more beautiful to me than on the day I married you. You continue to amaze me with all that you are. You are always my greatest blessing without qualification or mitigation. It's so appropriate that our wedding anniversary each year is right around Thanksgiving, because I'm so grateful for all God's given me in you, and I'm so glad that Christ is at the center of us keeping us whole. I'm thankful that we're taking on life's challenges together.
Always. I love you. Sin cera.

Sonsrena Portrait Event
Had a great time out last night with the Sonsrena apartment complex crowd at their grand re-opening. It was my first time working an event as a commercial sponsor. We provided walk-in portrait sessions and got free chocolate covered strawberries and apple cider - Win! Here are a couple highlights from the night. Thanks to Kendall, Brendan, Curtis and the Sonsrena management group for letting me do this!

Indian Classical Music Circle Performance Concert
Had an amazing time the Day after my birthday photographing the DFW Indian Classical Music Circle Performance in Allen. Through my contact with Kathak Rhythms, a dance studio in Plano, I was able to come out and shoot the event which was a marathon showcase of outstanding talent of all ages and varieties. The capstone of the night were the kathak classical dance performances at the end, clearly evident how many hours had gone in to practice and rehearsal to prepare. I am definitely looking forward to doing more work with the NTX Indian American community, so we are offering a special discount for any ICMC members (see website for more details on that). But if you know any one who does mehndi or any traditional Indian artwork/dance/dress please put me in contact with them as I am quite eager to build my portfolio of Indian work.
